Starting Without a Viable Product
When I joined Smplicare, the product was a basic web wrapper. It failed clinical viability tests and risked our funding. We needed a native solution capable of capturing complex health data (wearables, fall risk) without overwhelming non-technical users aged 65+.
Strategic Decision
We debated sticking with web-based views for speed vs. building native for data quality. I advocated for a React Native build. While it increased initial dev time by 20%, it was the only way to guarantee the background data syncing required for our AI algorithms.

Designing for Clinical Complexity
I designed an admin dashboard that turned machine learning outputs into frailty scores for clinicians. This required mapping clinical risk logic to visual UI patterns.

I wrote the NHS DTAC usability documentation and mapped user journeys to 17 NHS service standards to pass the audit.
